A painter, framer, and photographer all-in-one, Brett Waldman is a dynamic artist who enjoys demonstrating the boundless storytelling journeys that can be both formed and experienced when influential passion, synthesized colors, and emotional ambiances are bridged. Developing every frame and photo on the foundation of authenticity, Brett's collections are comprised of quality over quantity, limitless expression, and the desire to breathe and reflect. Furthermore, it stems from a deep appreciation for art in its purest form, initially seeded in fatherhood and has since evolved into powerful expressions with each new creation. Seeing the color pink fill the field came with an instant wave of elating, unconditional love. But strangely, this was also the very moment (down to the second) when Brett felt his entire being shift to an unbeknown focus - a yearning for color and creativity that he had never experienced before.

 

Brett’s love for the Mahi Mahi started over 25 years ago.  Catching his first Mahi in Islamorada, it was love at first site.  The vibrant colors, the incredible fight and acrobatics of the fish, and everything the Mahi Mahi represented created this passion.

 

The moment Brett found out he was having a daughter was when he also became an artist. Rushed with an unavoidable pull to design a nursery with colors and pictures, Brett began exploring deeper with framing, painting, and blending that with his love for photography – with his first creation coming from a photo from Anne’s Beach in the Florida Keys. Today, marrying colors that bring new realms of emotion has become a big part of Brett’s work. This is partly from being innately drawn to it and partly because he recognizes that the presence of color is the reason why people are able to experience these levels of emotion, creativity, and positivity in the first place.  Mixing the concepts of Art with his love for the Mahi Mahi was officially the moment Mahi Mahi Art was born.

 

From bringing action and underwater images to life and creating uniquely hand painted frames that interlace vivid color with wonder, Brett has a genuine passion for representing the fish in its truest and authentic form. In addition, allowing his creative pieces to become a sensational gateway for others to experience their innermost vehemence by opening the door to new perspectives and emotional influences that inspire beyond just the five senses. Overall, Brett is an artist devoted to connecting others with the artistic intrinsicality But above all, is one who firmly believes in creating timeless pieces that motivate, empower, and ultimately act as gentle reminders of just how beautiful mother nature can be.

 

Brett is a Florida Atlantic University alumni, and loves being on the water and being with his family and friends.  Brett is an avid sports fan, and is definitely always supporting his Florida Panthers and Miami Dolphins any chance he can.  He’s also a big fisherman and hockey player.

 

As an artist, he is always pulling new inspirations. This includes his daughter Stella, his wife Catherine, as well as inspirations from the Island Dog, Kenny Chesney, The Florida Keys, Island Life, Fishing and Boating, and everyone who has inspired him in one way throughout his life in someway.
